Caitlyn slays the world

Last night, Caitlyn Jenner was presented with the “Arthur Ashe Courage Award” at the 2015 ESPY Awards and pretty much slayed the world with her acceptance speech.

The award that Caitlyn received honors people who “transcends sports through courageous action.” While there was a bunch of controversy on the Caitlyn receiving the award, she showed the world why she was deserving of the award if they didn’t believe it at first.

During her speech, she used the platform to shed even more light onto the Transgender community than what she has in her interview with Diane Sawyer and the special 2 episode on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” Because of her platform, she knows what she must do:

“I know I’m clear with my responsibility going forward, to tell my story the right way — for me, to keep learning, to reshape the landscape of how trans issues are viewed, how trans people are treated. And then more prominently to promote a very simple idea: accepting people for who they are.”

She even went on to tell about how hard transition has been, and transgender people need your respect, which should be something that should be a given anyways. As she finished up her speech with a simple message for her haters:

“If you want to call me names, make jokes, doubt my intentions, go ahead, because the reality is, I can take it. But for the thousands of kids out there coming to terms with being true to who they are, they shouldn’t have to take it.”
