Arrow gets Darhk

Now that I’ve had a chance to reflect, it’s now time to review the fourth season of the CW show “Arrow.” So let’s sit down and reflect on the happens. Contains Spoilers.

Before we get to the overall plot, let’s just take care of the elephant in the room: The death of Laurel Lance because it was polarize between the fans to say the least. Yes, it was sad by the death of Laurel but it had to happen in order to raise the stakes in the battle between Team Arrow and Damien Darhk. Could it have been another character? Probably not because Oliver and Laurel have a very strong emotional connection dating back to longer than everyone else on the team that isn’t his sister. It won’t have been as motivating if it was Felicity. While they were engaged, Laurel is considered to be his first love. First anything trumps all.

The overall plot this involved Team arrow taking on HIVE, Oliver trying to run for mayor, Diggle find his brother, and Olicity. Olicity takes the most out of the season. It’s the downfall of the season because it’s used ineffectively to tell the main story, which was Arrow vs HIVE.

One of the major flaws with this season is the pacing of it. The season starts off really well paced and then it died. Literally, the momentum just stopped. It tried to get it back but then the season finale happened. The season had really well done episodes but all the goodness those episodes built up to was just lost. I do want to mention that the action scenes this year was extremely well done.

The flashback this season didn’t work at all. It was tied into the main plot but it just got too confusing in where the flashbacks became filler to the already intense main plotline. The flashback became pointless and didn’t matter at all.

The season finale was pretty much the same as the season before-literally. Except for the fact the team left Oliver and Felicity alone to protect the city. Oh, and Oliver is mayor and he ended up stabbing Darhk. But it felt like a rip off. The episode before it was really good and raised the stakes and then it went down the drain. The only good thing it did was set up nicely for season five.

Overall, the season was bad but it wasn’t great either. At times, it was amazing but overall it was just ehhh. I cannot wait for season five in order to see where the hell this goes. I hope it goes where the pace is better.
