Top 5ive: Throwback Nostalgia of 90s

On this edition of Top 5ive, We are going to throwback and talking about the top 5ive songs that bring you back to an early time. To start of what will probably be a trend, I’ll be starting with the 90s because why not. I’ve also tried not to go to “standards.” So don’t expect NSYNC, Britney, BSB, etc. to pop up on the list. This is the people who are the forgot ones along the way.  So let’s remember our fallen comrades of the 90s.

5. “Bailamos” by Enrique Iglesias

If you remember when Enrique was still a thing, then you remember “Bailamos.” It’s Enrique with the mole that will have eventually leave him, just like any hopes of having a huge pop career. Listening and dancing to it made you feel exotic because it’s in Spanglish, which is now a real language. It also created the formula for most male Spanish pop stars crossing over to English-show them with attractive women who are very much throwing their panties at them. A formula that Enrique still uses but with more skin. He’s usually shirtless and having sex with them. Yeah, Enrique is really trying still for America’s love.

4. “Candy” by Mandy Moore

Before she was a successful actress, Mandy was an awkwardly dancing teen dancing. She was one of the many chosen to emulate the success of her fellow teen stars Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. There’s Jessica Simpson roo but I really don’t count her. This video literally screams “I’m what 90’s girls do in their free time.” There’s a Volkswagen Beetle, dancing in a skate park, and a portable CD player that matched her long shiny skirt. It even has that weird tint in the video that screams late 90s.

3. “Mambo No.5” by Lou Bega

The 90s were full of one hits wonders, and Lou Bega is one of them. Everyone spent countless trying to remembering all the names in the song. We all sang the song to any of the girls that was listed, which there was a lot. Pretty much the song was about Lou and his countless number of women. The hit also spawned a horrible Disney version that makes me cringe just thinking about it.

2. “Livin’ La Vida Loca” by Ricky Martin

Who doesn’t remember this song? It was what started the Spanish crossover trend. He also gave the trend of male Spanish singers having women just throw their panties at them. It’s really ironic now if you think about it. The video was just one wide party that we all wanted to be apart of. It’s also a song about sex that didn’t throw people into a hissy.

1. “Two Princes” by Spin Doctors

This song is literally all the teen movies in the 90s. It’s the quintessential song of the 90s that instantly remind you of that time. In the 90s, teen movies weren’t all pop music but songs like this. It was a great time and amazing time to be a teen. Besides sitting on inflatable furniture that looked comfortable but wasn’t, it was a great time. All had the best soundtrack with great music.

[Note:Before you all ring my neck, it’s impossible to have all the greats in here. The 90s were a great time.]
