Single Review: Steps creates rebirth of 90s pop music

The British pop group Steps returned to the music scene after their break in 2013. For those who aren’t familiar with the name, you are missing out. Steps is an extremely popular pop group that formed 1997 and took the British music by storm until a horrible break up in 2001. If you haven’t heard any of their music, then you are frankly missing out. They have some really nice jams, here’s actually a Top 5ive of their some of their hits. So now, let’s talk about “Scared Of The Dark.”

“Scared of The Dark” is retro style pop song. It sounds like a song that ABBA would do and that’s not a bad thing at all. It’s amazing produced song. It starts out one way before taking a turn and going into something unexpected. It’s a song that isn’t trying to be like the other song that are currently playing on the radio. The song is a throwback to 90s pop music and it’s rather refreshing. It’s nice to hear something that isn’t the same thing. A lot of the music on the radio these days don’t have anything that’s truly makes its it different. It’s like they are all following the same formula. This is a good thing, and it’s also a bad thing. But for Steps, they created something that will stand out and it’s actually rather good.

The only problem with the song is that the climax of the song is fulfilling but leaves you wanting more. It’s miss the big vocals. While it’s stereotypical, it also leads to the big payoff.

Overall, the song is an amazing song that doesn’t land the finish. It’s probably the best song they’ve done since 2001.

Here’s the song for your ears to enjoy and go “niiiiicccceee:”

 Rating: 4 out of 5
