Top 5ive: Songs of the 00s

Ahh, the 2000s were an amazing time for music and it was literally just popping out hits like one of the Duggar kids. So I thought it would be an amazing idea to revise this time period and look back at the forgot songs. All of these songs were released in the 2000s but because of how close it was to the 90s for some, it will be confusing. Just go with it.  So here are the forgot songs of the 00s.

5. “All or Nothing” by O-Town

Before taking Instagram pics in his underwear, Ashley Parker Angel was a member of O-Town. They were literally formed on a reality television show on ABC of all places called “Making the Band.” They were the answer to Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC. This song was used by many men to win over the panties of their girlfriends. It’s a catchy song and follows all the tropes of an early 00s pop hit. It’s shame that the single before this was about wet dreams. Mood killer right?

4. “The Reason” by Hoobastank

Probably the most overplayed rock song of the mid-2000s. This song was literally everywhere and it’s catchy. Like extremely catchy. It’s the kind of song that you just have to rock out to when it the chorus hit. It’s so catchy that it will follow you everywhere…unless that was just listening to the radio.

3. “Everything You Want” by Vertical Horizon

It’s the moody teens’ song about unrequited love. It was on the airwaves of radio for days and you heard it everywhere. And every time you heard it, it made you think of a simpler time where you and the girl/boy next door were a teen movie love. The 00s were the time for moody teens that loved people who were outta their league. Ahh, the memories of heartbreak and the start of the “emo” trend.

2. “It Wasn’t Me” by Shaggy

The song is about getting caught sleeping around and then denying it….even though she clearly saw you there and there’s only one of you. Yeah, the lyric quality of the 00s music wasn’t the greatest thing in the world. It’s something that is overlooked, mainly because it’s so good. The song is clever and catchy…like the STD that Shaggy got by sleeping around but hey-it’s wasn’t him. It was mainly because of the chorus and the hook. That was the catchy part of the song.

1. “Thong Song” by Sisqo

This song is literally one of the most infamous songs of the 00s. Plain and simple.
