She’s got all them Daddy issues
Yesterday, Demi Lovato released an extremely open, honest, and tell-all documentary on YouTube. Sure, we have had one before like the one she did on MTV called “Demi Lovato: Stay Strong” but she was apparently high on cocaine during that entire thing so let’s just forget that it happened.
“Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated” is a Demi Lovato pretty much letting her hair down and just her being herself. It’s an extremely heavy documentary about her life. It covers everything from her time on “Barney” to her life now. The now features clips of her recording vocals for songs off of her album “Tell Me You Love Me” as well as looks into her life. This stuff is the best and happy parts of the whole entire documentary.
I also liked how it didn’t skim over the Disney years. It covered everything rather well. You can kind of connect the events that started downward spiral of Demi. A lot of it had to do with too much, too fast. It made sense with everything that was going on with her life. We also find out finally why she’s punched her backup dancer. It was really amazing to see her come clean about it all.
The worse part of the documentary for me was her talking about her eating disorder. It’s not worse as in bad, but rather just hard to watch. Demi talks about girls in her school telling her to kill herself and then having a petition for it as well. It raised so many questions like why would any adult condone this? If I saw this going on, I would have stopped this immediately. No one should ever have to go through that.
We also need to talk about the fact we got the answer to why her album “Unbroken” was a dumpster fire train wreck. Apparently, she was messed up during the entire “Unbroken” era. That entire album is now making sense now, isn’t it? I’m pretty sure that the only two good songs on the album, “Skyscraper” and “Give Your Heart a Break,” were probably written when she wasn’t higher than a kite.
I recommend watching “Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated” because it’s honestly something that is extremely good. Whether you are a fan of Demi or not, you will gain some respect for her. It’s also free on YouTube. You can’t beat watching something for free. But as I stated above, it’s extremely heavy. Prepare yourself for it before getting too deep in it. You will feel a wide range of emotions. You will be an emotionally hot mess. I just really hope that Lifetime doesn’t make her life into a crappy Lifetime movie.
