Top 5ive: Soundtrack to your Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s day is tomorrow. It’s the one time a year that there will be an increase sales in flowers, wine/alcohol, and condoms. Just like there will be an increase in infant clothing in nine months. In order to set the mood, you need the perfect music.

Because of all the baby making that will or won’t be,happening, tomorrow. I figured that I would be you personal DJ. This will give you more time to plan. This Top 5ive will be unlike other Top 5ive. It’s going to be set up to follow you from the start of your date and the whole way up to the end 😉  I also can’t promise that this will be just 5 song

I Wanna Be With You by Mandy Moore

This is for you are really excited for your romantic outing. You literally can’t think of anything else. Literally all your co-workers want to kill you because you aren’t getting your work done and you are just making them work more.

Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding

It’s time to actually get ready for your date. At this point, you are probably very nervous and can’t wait to finally see your love again. You’ve been texting all day and it’s almost. This song is to help you get those butterflies the whole way up until you meet you date.

A Thousand Years by Christina Perri

It’s time for your date. It’s literally the most romantic thing ever and you are speechless. You were speechless from the time you locked eyes on them.  Then time will stand still as you go on your date. It’s like heaven. Not real heaven because that will be sad and ruin the date.

Crazy in Love by Beyoncé

Towards the end of your date, you are going to want to jump each others bones. Because of this, I give you the 50 Shades of Grey version of “Crazy in Love.” The building up towards the end of the song is perfect to the tension you are feeling.

Breathe On Me by Britney Spears

Literally, the sexiest song that Britney has put out. This is for the part of the night where the amount of love you have can’t control anymore. You just need to go back to one of your places and rip  each others clothes off.

S&M by Rihanna

You probably have seen the new 50 Shades movie at some point in the last week. If you have, then you’re welcome for this song. Honestly, it’s a travesty that they haven’t put this on either one of the soundtracks.

……this is for after…..the cuddling and pillow talk. The song title pretty much makes this one self-explanatory.

Where You Are by Jessica Simpson & Nick Lachey

It’s almost time to part ways and you just don’t want to. You just want to be with them forever. But you have to work in the morning, and you both feel guilty if you were to take a “sick day.”

My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion

It’s time you to part ways like the Titanic (too soon?). You will have only the memories of your night and you will cherish them forever. It will be like Rose saying goodbye to Jack but less tragic because neither one of you died. Best. Valentine’s Day. Ever.

Bonus Track: Side to Side by Ariana Grande feat. Nicki Minaj

You’ve been there all night. You’ve been there all day. Now you be walking side to side….good for you 😉

You’re welcome for the fun time you will be having with this awesome playlist. Below this is the playlist on Spotify if you decided to take it with you. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Surprise! Albums coming outta nowhere

The music world is freaking out because rumor has it that Taylor Swift is getting ready to release a surprise album at the end of the month. While T-swizzle hasn’t confirmed or denied this, there are many hints leaning toward a successor to her “1989” album. You can thank our friends at Vogue for compiling this list.

  • T-Swizzle releases an album every two years. “1989” came out in 2014
  • Four out of the last five came out in October. Taylor seems to be a fall girl.
  • A tweet from her label denying the album was deleted.
  • On the 24th of October, Taylor will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of her debut album
  • Her squad even said that she’s back into the studio

While this wouldn’t shock anyone, mainly because ever since BeyoncĂ© released her fifth album “Beyonce”, everyone and their mother have been doing this. The new hot thing is to surprise fans with an album with little to no pre-release promotion, which is a rather big thing not to do. If you don’t do promo, then your album doesn’t get a lot of attention or heat to climb the charts.  But if Taylor Swift can pull off a surprise album, then it would mean that she’s can do anything that Beyonce can.

The real question is, are surprise releases the way to go? The answer is slightly yes because there is a less than likely change that the album will leak for the world to hear. That is one of the biggest issues in the age of the internet. Albums leak every week and it hurts the release of the album and the hype because you can already listen to it so what’s the point of buying it or listening to it after it’s actually release? But the surprise release can also hurt if the artist isn’t big or famous enough for it. If you have the hype, then the hype will help support the album release.

The Battle for the Queendom

banner sm

It’s time to re-enter the arena! Since there has been a bitter blood feud on who is the true Queen B, we have decided to throw Britney Spears and Beyonce into the Pop Dome and to let them battle it out the only fair way we know how-record and tour sales, as well as album placement on the Billboard top 200.  Will Sasha Fierce show Britney how to “Scream and Shout” or will Britney show Beyonce who the real Femme Fatale is? It’s time to rumble! (UPDATED: It now has the Britney Residency numbers as well as up date album sales).

We would also like to note while Beyonce’s career got started as a member of Destiny’s child, we are only look at her solo career (which is the only thing you can really consider).

round 1new

While it’s no secret that Britney has more studio albums than BeyoncĂ©, BeyoncĂ© still managed to show some impressive numbers. Both women are recognized as one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Based off of worldwide album sales, Britney has sold 87,653,000 record while BeyoncĂ© has sold 35,092,600.  Britney’s strongest selling album is her first album “…Baby One More Time” with 30,000,000 with her eighth album “Britney Jean” being her worst selling album with 265,000. Like Britney, BeyoncĂ©’s strongest selling album is her first album “Dangerously in Love” with 11,000,000 and her fourth and fifth album being her worst selling with 3,000,000. Her newest album “Lemonade” is listed at her total US album sales and not worldwide. Those numbers haven’t been released yet.

All of BeyoncĂ© albums have dĂ©but at number one while Britney has six album dĂ©but at number one (“…Baby One More Time”, “Oops!…I Did It Again”, “Britney”, “In The Zone”, “Circus” and “Femme Fatale”), one album debuting at number two (“Blackout”) and one debuting at number 4 (“Britney Jean”).

It should also be noted that Britney is the only artist who the only artist in history to have a number-one single and a number-one studio album in the three decades of her career.

If we had to give round one to anyone, it would have to be to Miss Spears. While she has more albums than BeyoncĂ©, you can’t deny that she has slayed the charts since she dĂ©but back in 1998. BeyoncĂ©, you better work bitch!

Here are the record sales, by the numbers:

Now it time to get down to what really matters:

round 2new

While album sales are important, the money that one makes on tour is kinda more important because that’s people coming to see you. Now it’s time to answer question who is brought the most in touring? Britney’s six tours and residency  estimated around 463,350,781 . Now BeyoncĂ©’s five tours estimated around 570,900,000(Note: We couldn’t find a number for her Dangerously In Love Tour so it’s not included).

While one can speculate that if Britney would have not gotten injured and had to cancel her Onyx Hotel Tour,  it would have made more but it’s pretty clear that people pay to see BeyoncĂ©. Could it be because in all her tours she sings live and dances?

Here are the tour sales, by the number:

So we have a tie with both Britney and BeyoncĂ© getting one round each. What would be the best way to solve this? Let’s combine the numbers and let them choose!
So with 55,988,819 more, Beyonce is the Queen. While Britney has sold more records than Bey, it’s all those tours sales what made Beyonce become the queen. So until Britney releases her ninth album, or finishes her residency, she will have to just remain the princess of pop.

Top 5 Events in 2013 that Pop’ed Our World: The number one event

top 5 bannerIn honor of the New Year, we thought that we would count down the top 5 events that pop’ed our world. Now, it all comes down to this-our number one event! And in cause you can’t tell by our banner above this paragraph….it’s Beyonce’s album, bitch!

December 13, 2013 was the day that Beyonce, reigning queen of the world decided to slay all of our lives with a surprise release of her new self titled album, Beyonce. This wasn’t just any album release though. This album came literally out of the blue, and we don’t mean Blue Ivy, although she is featured on this album as well in a track with her mother. The album was released late at night, with ZERO promotion prior to the release, and no leaks of any of the songs on the album. This would seem remarkable for any artist to release an album in this manner, but because it was Beyonce, one of the biggest artists of our generation, it makes this release that much more astounding.

The album itself is also remarkable in that it is more than just 14 amazing, empowering and perfect tracks. The album is a “visual album” and it includes 17 music videos, or as Beyonce explains it, “short-films” to accompany each of the tracks on the album. Knowles served as executive producer, co-writer and co-director of the album’s seventeen music videos, while significant musical contributions came from producers such as Timberland, Pharrell and even Justin Timberlake. BeyoncĂ© debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with three-day sales of 617,213 digital copies, giving Knowles her fifth consecutive number-one. It became the highest first-week sales of her solo career, and the best-selling debut week for a female artist in 2013; six days after release it had sold one million copies worldwide.

The album is perfection. PERFECTION. After an almost two year wait since her previous album, 4, the general public is rejoicing over this release from the Queen
and we shall continue to bow down to Beyonce and her reign well into 2014.
