Review: ‘Deadpool 2’

The tight ass in red tights is back!

When I reviewed the first “Deadpool” movie, I literally loved it. It’s one of the few superhero movies that I watched more than once. A lot of that has to do with the fact that it’s just not a superhero movie. It was a comedy that happened to be in a superhero universe. “Deadpool 2” follows suit to this very well.

Directed by “Atomic Blonde” director David Leitch, “Deadpool 2” follows everyone favorite potty-mouthed mercenary Wade Wilson as he tries to find his place after heartbreak happens to him. During his “figuring out life” phase, Deadpool must form his own team to protect a young mutant child from a future mutant, Cable, who is looking to kill him.

This movie is just as good as the first. Deadpool continues to be one of my favorite superhero movie franchises. The movie seems just as fresh and new. None of it came across as overdone or overplayed. It played to its strength, which is the writing, the acting, and the action. At first watch, it seemed too much like the original. It wasn’t until I watched them back-to-back that I saw that they play into each other but

“Deadpool 2” is way less gory than the what was in the first movie. There’s still a lot of gore but it’s not anything close to what was featured in “Deadpool.” It almost felt like they were trying to make a family friendly R rated movie. That sounds like a double negative but that’s what it felt like it was doing. It didn’t hurt the movie but it was just very noticeable.

I really enjoyed “Deadpool 2.” I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first one but that was only because you can only enjoy something like that only once. I highly recommend this. Especially if you have seen the first one. I also, watch the credits as well. There are some extra scenes there.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Celine Dion teams up with Deadpool for the best music video ever

Bet you never knew you needed a Celine Dion and Deadpool Music Video

Celine Dion and Deadpool teamed up for a music video for a song off of the “Deadpool 2” soundtrack. You read that correctly. Celine Dion and Ryan Reynolds were in a music video together. Words cannot describe how good the music video is.

Released yesterday, the video is for Celine’s song “Ashes.” This isn’t a review for it because frankly, its Celine Dion. No rating system will do justice to the talent that she possesses in her pinky finger. But the video for it is a classic Celine video. She’s on a stage singing her little heart out. During her performance, Deadpool is being Deadpool. He puts on his suit and heels dances his little heart out. The video ends with a little quip between Celine and Deadpool.

Honestly, this was the greatest thing that I didn’t know I needed in my life. Like, It’s everything. Both are sassy and both are just great. This music video was perfect for the movie and what it represents. I’m all for this music video.

“Deadpool 2” is out on May 18 in theaters.

Sink your teeth into the trailer for the Spider-Man spin-off, ‘Venom’

It’s time to get a little dark in the “Venom” Trailer”

Sony released the trailer the upcoming spin-off movie for the “Spider-Man” franchise. Yep, the franchise that can’t even decide what they want it to be after the countless number of films finally has a spin-off. One would think nailing down a direction would be first on the list, but I guess that why I don’t work in the film industry. Also, are we just going to forget that Venom was in the awful “Spider-Man 3?”

“Venom” stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, a journalist that is infected with an alien symbiote that bonds with Brock and tries to help Brock reach his potential. Typically in the Marvel universe, the Venom character has been a villain. Most famously, Venom is the one of the archenemies of Spider-Man. Since it’s in the Sony Marvel Universe, Venom is going with the anti-hero route. The movie is directed by Ruben Fleischer, who is best known for his first feature film “Zombieland.”

“Venom” doesn’t look your typical superhero/Marvel film. The trailer does give off this extremely gritty vibe to it. The film doesn’t have a rating yet, but don’t be surprised if it doesn’t have an R rating. The way that the movie looks to be shoot and presented is one that would terrify the children that go to this movie with their unexpecting parents. Marvel seems to be trying to give the movies like this one that rating after the success of “Deadpool” and “Logan.”

This is the first trailer to include the first look at the Venom suit. The suit itself look like extremely badass and frankly, quite terrifying. It’s the thing that nightmares make when you take a bunch acid mixed with heroin. It wouldn’t be Venom if he didn’t terrify people. The movie does look like it will be extremely good.

Venom will be out in theatres on October 5th, 2018.

‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ and ‘Deadpool 2’ have release dates!!!

So we need to have a chat as a family because I’m shook. And I’m shook in a good way because it appears we will be getting we will be getting two movies that we’ve been wanting for ages as people who enjoy comic book based series and franchises. So it appears that 2018 will be the year of Marvel as they have released the release dates for the second Deadpool movie and the final X-Men movie in the reboot/continuation/prequel series.

The final X-Men movie is going to be a doozy as it looks like we will finally get ourselves a full fledged “Dark Phoenix” movie. I know what you are thinking, and “X-Men: The Last Stand” doesn’t count. For those that don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, the “Dark Phoenix Saga” was a series of comic books about  X-Men’s Jean Grey being overtaken by the Phoenix Force. Phoenix Force eventually turns her to the side of evil and becoming one of the world’s biggest threat. The only success adaptation we have gotten of this storyline was in the early 90s cartoon series, which is a must watch. The “Dark Phoenix Saga” was used in the 2006’s “X-Men: The Last Stand” but it wasn’t anything to cry about.

Now they teased about it in the latest movie “X-Men: Apocolypse” with Sophia Turner creating a firebird in the final battle against Apocolypse. While I won’t get my hopes up for it, the fact that it will be a movie on it’s on is probably the best sign that it will rock. I just hope it does it justice. It can’t be any worse than what they did with it in “X-Men: The Last Stand.”

Not to be outdone, “Deadpool 2” is also shaping up to be a good movie. If the small clip that played after Marvel’s movie “Logan” was a taste of what to expect, then it will be just as good as the first one. If you have been living under a rock and didn’t click on the link to my review to the first movie, Deadpool is a smartass sarcastic ass anti-hero who was is seeking revenge against the people who took his life from him and made him ugly. It’s better than it sounds. It was pretty much one of the best “superhero” movies in 2016 and the first show that movies like it can be rated r.

Well, it looks like all of our favorite characters will be returning in the sequel plus the introduce of the X-Men Cable to the universe. Cable, who was teased as appearing at the end of the first film, is the adult son of Scott “Cyclops” Summer and Jean Grey’s clone, Madelyne Pryor. The X-Men universe has a lot going and sometimes it doesn’t make sense unless you really know what’s going. And I don’t know enough to explain to where it will make sense to everyone. I really hope that “Deadpool 2” is just as good as the first one, but I don’t have my hope set too high because sequels are usually that great as the originals. But like I said about “X-Men: Dark Phoenix,”  this movie can’t be any worse that Deadpool appearing in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” He had no fucking mouth and it was scary looking in a weird way. Anything is better that “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”

“Deadpool 2” is slated for release on June 1st, 2018 while “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” is slated for release on November 2, 2018.
